Shaolin Kempo Karate is a martial art that combines the principles of Shaolin Kung Fu, Kempo, Karate, Boxing, and Jujutsu. It emphasizes practical self-defense, incorporating techniques from various martial arts traditions to create a comprehensive system. The system is known for its integration of the four ways of fighting: striking, kicking, felling, and grappling.
From Shaolin, the study of the main 5 animals include the Leopard, Tiger, Dragon, Snake and Crane. The movements of Shaolin are circular in nature and strike with a comprehensive patterns of blows.
In Kempo, there is the integration of both hard and soft movements as well as the blend of circular and linear movement, striking in less sophisticated patterns as Shaolin.
With Karate the movements are both easier to learn and execute for beginning students, which is why in the beginning of training it serves as foundational to further grow into Kempo and Shaolin. The movements of Karate are hard hitting, explosive and linear in movement.
Shaolin Kempo Karate integrates with the power of western boxing. In addition, the grappling skills of both Ju-jitsu and China-na incorporate extremely well to maximize the effectiveness of the Four Ways of Fighting.
Shaolin Kempo Karate was founded by Great Grandmaster Frederick J. Villari. Master Ken is a direct student of Grandmaster Villari as well as Senior Master Instructor Judon John Fritz who was one of the foremost authorities of the internal arts.
